All about fossils: Chione

A Chione fossil from my collection

My fossil is 2 centimeters long. I found it at the York River State Park.

The version found in Virginia lived in the late Quaternary period/Pleistocene which started 2 and a half million years ago. It is found in the Americas and New Zealand. It burrowed in the sand in shallow oceans.

Do you have other fossils from there?

That is a really cool find! What other types of fossils do you have in your collection?

From the York River Park, I also have a large Chesapecten Jeffersonius, another giant shell and a bunch of smaller curled gastropods. Thank you!!!
