Animals that live in the wild: Hyacinth macaw

Two Hyacinth Macaws meeting

The hyacinth macaw lives in Brazil. It is the largest of all macaws and the largest flying parrot. It is about 1 meter (3 feet) long! The kakapo weighs more, but it does not fly.

They are beautiful dark blue color. They have a very strong beak that can even crush coconuts! They like eating seeds, nuts, fruit, insects and snails.

The hyacinth macaws are a vulnerable species because many people take them as pets and becuase of loss of their habitat.
