Animals that live in backyards: Blue Jay

Blue jay sitting in the weeds in my backyard

Do you think Blue Jays eat seeds? Yes, but also they eat insects and even baby chicks of other birds, such as sparrows!

They have a crest on their head. They say “Jay! Jay!” but can also imitate calls of other birds, such as hawks.

Sometimes, they migrate.

Do they eat chicks? But seemingly such harmless birds…?

Wow! Have you tried feeding it some seeds? Or do you think your blue jays might like some bread crumbs?

We have tried to feed them seeds, but they did not come. May be they are shy.
