Jonathan’s Tarantulas: Martinique Pinktoe

This is my sister’s tarantula. It is a spiderling about 1 and a half inches, and it shines blue. When it grows up, it is going to have a light red abdomen, pink leg tips, purple hairs, and green carapace.

It is an arboreal species, it lives in the trees on the tropical island of Martinique in the Caribbean Sea (just a short way from Cuba, where our other tarantula is from). It is fast, can jump, and shoot hair, but bites very rarely. It is calm and has a nice character.

This is a video of me handling the Pinktoe.

Handling the sling (“sling” is short for “spiderling”, or baby spider)!

I am waiting and waiting and waiting for it to build a silk funnel. It has just spun some in the corner of its cage.

I hope it builds much more!

Beautiful Martinique Pinktoe!

This is a beautiful spiderling, I like its hairy limbs and the blue-orange hues. It dressed up for a party! I enjoy seeing you handling them, admirable…
