When I was climbing a small hill near a trail, I saw a rare 3-leaf great mullein. I wanted to see it closer. When I flipped over one of the leaves, I saw a crab spider!

Crab spiders are small spiders that have excellent camouflage among flowers. When unlucky pollinator insects fly to the flower the spider is hiding on, the spider snatches it!!! They have been known to catch insects 7 times their size! They are 1 centimeter long, and live in North America.

I looked at it, Mom photographed it, and I let it go.
