All about mammals: Long tailed field mouse

Long tailed field mouse from my book, Animal

The long tailed field mouse has a tail the length of the body. It is 22 inches long, including the tail. It is golden, dark gray, and white in color. It is very fast, scurrying up to 16 miles per hour, from predators that threaten it. It spreads a disease called hantavirus. its ears are slightly curved in, letting it hear better. It looks so alike the field mouse that it is sometimes mistaken for it. Its home is a burrow that is 3 in wide, and 4 meters deep. They are widespread throughout Europe and North Africa.
